I love lamp: Some of Ireland's bright lights

There's a bit of stretch in the evening these days but I'm still reaching for the flick of a switch by 6pm. I prefer the glow of table and floor lamps to the sometimes harsh glare of overhead lights.

Like Brick from Anchorman, I love lamp. Light up with this selection of lovely lamps from Irish stores:

PET PROJECT: Designer Jens Kosak created a limited run of 50 eponymous Spot lamps (€260) for Red Dog the Store. The fetching Donegal-made Aran Sweaters modelled by the poodles are also available from the store, costing €50. Image: Red Dog the Store

PERFECT 'POISE: Dublin store Industry Design has a range of classic Anglepoise lamps, including this 1227 blue beauty (€195). Image: Industry Design

DARLING BUDS OF RAY: This futuristic Bud lamp from Designist (€54) was inspired by the overlapping petals of a rose. Made from recyclable polypropylene, it's kind to the environment too. Image: Designist.ie

FOOD LIGHTING: Made by Irish company Klickity, the Light Tin is available in blue (79.95) from homewares heaven Garrendenny Lane. Created by recycling restaurant food tins, it makes for an attractive (and green) light feature. Image: Garrendenny Lane

LIGHT AND SPACE: This original 1960s Rocket Lamp (€145) is part of the gorgeous collection of vintage furniture and furnishings treated with TLC from the cleverly named Table Lighting Chair in Dublin. Image: Table Lighting Chair

BRIGHT IDEA: From the Muuto brand and designed by Harri Koskinen, the stunning Cosy n Grey Table Lamp (€229)  is available from Inreda. So striking! Image: Inreda

TAKE SHADE: Also made from Klickity, this stunning Palm shade is available from the Irish Design Shop. It's available in a number of colourways and has green credentials as it's 100% recyclable and is suitable for low watt bulbs. Image: Irish Design Shop
